Last of a series

This is the final story in our 1986 series from Elmer Gertz,well-known Chicago lawyer and civil libertarian, who sailed the globefor the third straight year to share his adventures with Sun-Timesreaders.

BALI, Indonesia The last night on the Rotterdam was rich withsentiment, not alone because of our farewell to passengers and crewwho had become our friends.

Our head steward, Oka Adnyana, gave us a letter of introductionin Indonesian to those we would meet in Bali. Later, when our guidein Bali translated it, we blushed at the enthusiasm of hisdescription of us.

But most moving of all was the poem that Henke, one of thestewards, wrote …
